Head Coach - Tommy Anderson

Tommy is stepping in the recently departed shoes of long-time teammate Joe Rood. He swam for North Creek for 11 years and competed in such MCSL meets as Coaches Long Course and All-Stars.  He swam for the UMCY Stingrays and competed at YMCA Summer Nationals.  Tommy was captain of the Gaithersburg High School Swim Team and a Metros Championship qualifier.  He is a two time Maryland state champion in track and field and was named to all county and all-met track teams. Currently he is a senior Economics  major at the University of Maryland at College Park and is the top middle distance runner on the Maryland Terrapins Track and Field team.

Assistant Coach - Lauren Bowman

Coach Lauren is returning the coaching staff this year with 13 years experience swimming for FAST, who she also currently coaches.  She swam for Urbana High School for three years, achieving Metro qualifying times each year and 3 all-county team honors. Lauren is currently a rising junior at the University of Arizona where she is studying Physical Education and Sports Medicine. This winter she planned on coaching for Swim Tucson, one of the most competitive club teams in southern Arizona. She is looking forward to a great season with the Torpedoes!

 

Assistant Coach - Julia Rood

Julia is following in the footsteps of her brother Joe by defecting from North Creek to Germantown. She swam as a North Creek Neptune for 11 years and competed in MCSL All-Stars and Coaches Invitational Long Course. For six years, she swam year-round, and at age 10, Julia swam butterfly in the USS Zones meet. At Watkins Mill High School, she was co-captain of the swim team and competed in Metros all four years. She was co-valedictorian of her high school class and is currently a sophomore at St. Olaf College in Minnesota, where she is a double major in biology and math. Julia also enjoys ballet and art.
