Head Coach - Joe Rood
Returning from two successful years of assistant coaching with the Torpedoes, Joe is heading the team this year with hopes to continue the tradition of excellence exhibited by this team in the past. Joe swam competitively from age 10 for the North Creek Neptunes in MCSL including swims at Coaches Long Course and All-Star Individuals and Relays, the UMCY Stingrays Swim Team qualifying for such meets as YMCA Summer and Spring Nationals, was captain of the Watkins Mill High School Swim Team with numerous Metro Champs swims, and swam for Towson University where he is currently a senior Computer Science major on a Computer Security Track.
Assistant Coach - Tommy Anderson
Tommy is new this year but brings a lot of athletic experience to the team. He swam for North Creek for 11 years and competed in such MCSL meets as Coaches Long Course and All-Stars. He swam for the UMCY Stingrays and competed at YMCA Summer Nationals. Tommy was captain of the Gaithersburg High School Swim Team and a Metros Championship qualifier. He is a two time Maryland state champion in track and field and was named to all county and all-met track teams. Currently he is a senior Economics major at the University of Maryland at College Park and is the top middle distance runner on the Maryland Terrapins Track and Field team.
Assistant Coach - Lauren Bowman
Coach Lauren is joining the coaching staff this year with 13 years experience swimming for FAST, who she also currently coaches. She swam for Urbana High School for three years, achieving Metro qualifying times each year and 3 all-county team honors. Lauren is currently a sophomore at the University of Arizona where she is studying Physical Education and Sports Medicine. This winter she plans on coaching for Swim Tucson, one of the most competitive club teams in southern Arizona. She is looking forward to a great season with the Torpedoes!
Pre-Team Coach - Margo Demeter
This is Margo's first year coaching the Pre Team for the Germantown Torpedoes. She will be a freshman at Watkins Mill High School starting this fall. Margo has been swimming with MCSL since the age of 7, beginning with the Quail Valley Marlins. This is her third season with the Torpedoes. Her other hobbies include fast pitch softball and being on the Poms Squad at Watkins Mill. Margo is looking forward to another undeafeated season with the Torpedoes.

Pre-Team Coach - Jennifer Herndon
Jen is new to the coaching staff who will be a senior at Damascus High School in September. She has been swimming for around 11 years, beginning on the Upper County Dolphins, then the Germantown Torpedoes for 5 years. Her other hobbies include basketball, softball, being part of the DHS SGA, and the co-editor of the Damascus Observer Newspaper.
Pre-Team Coach - Tiffany Pagel
I am Tiffany Cara Pagel officially 4'11 and very proud of it. I am a Mascot at Midway High School in Texas were I was mistaken for a pregnant chicken (in which case our mascot is a falcon). I have been helping with Pre-team for three years now and I love working with little kids. I am 17 and going to be a senior in the fall and am very excited.
Pre-Team Coach - Samantha Roser
Samantha Roser, age 15, a soon to be sophomore, attends Poolesville High School with the Global Ecology Studies Program. At school she is active in many things such as the swim team and Drama. Also, she achieves honors and has obtained straight A's for most of the year. Sam started swimming at age 3 and a half, and this is her 5th year on the Germantown Torpedoes but, she has been summer swimming for 7 years. Along with summer swim team, Sam also swims during the winter and she hopes that this year on the Germantown Swim Team will be even better than last year.
